Day 12: At Sea

Yet another day to relax. We got a late start to our day, but hey, we're on vacation. After brunch at the Horizon Court we went looking for some sun and shade up on Deck 14 and 15. We found it, but the higher winds today coupled with the cooler temperatures (+22C) made it a bit chilly. I know, I know, there is no sympathy at all coming from our home town of Winnipeg.

So after a few minutes in the hot tub, we went under the covered area, sat and read our books. Had to dash off to our ukelele rehearsal, which went well. We practiced the three song we're going to play Sunday - Tiny Bubbles, Pearly Shells, and Aloha Oe. That last song has half its lyrics in Hawaiian, so one of our instructors had us practicing saying the words. It's one thing to learn to speak a new language, another to sing it. Especially Hawaiian because all the vowels run together unless they are separated by an okino (an apostrophe), which requires a distinct separation.

Rehearsal done, back up on Deck 14 for some relaxing:

The weather today was partly cloudy, +22C with winds at 20 knots giving 8- foot waves. Since then the wind has picked up to 38 knots, giving 11.5 foot waves. Yep, we're sailors now!

One of the people we went snorkeling with on Kauai invites us to a party in her full-sized suite on Deck 10. These rooms are about 500 square feet, bigger than the 323 square feet of our mini-suite. These full suites are impressive: separate living and sleeping areas, a larger bathroom with a jacuzzi bathtub, walk-in closet, and upgraded deck furniture. Very nice.

Fred (our table mate) invited us to the daily lounge amenities held for Platinum and Elite levels of the Princess Captain's Circle - the loyalty program. Beef tartare, cheese, and vegetable platters were there for us to sample. Oh, and bevvies were half the normal price. Yeah, I could get used to this.

Following a delicious dinner we took in one of the theatrical productions here on board Grand Princess. "Motor City" - a great tribute to Motown music. The performers put on a spectacular show.

We've traveled just over 1,000 nautical miles from Kauai, and have 1339 miles to go before we reach Ensenada, Mexico.

It's 8:54PM, good night all.
